A Ride the Wave class led by Mariane Karou, recorded while the Los Angeles community was living through loss — fires, displacement, grief — and offered as a direct response to that reality. Mariane speaks from her own experience of resilience through profound loss, and frames this class as both permission and practice: to feel fully, to let go, and to discover that new possibilities live on the other side of that letting go. The wave moves from gentle opening through the hips and breath, through expansion and reaching into new space, into a power phase that builds the container needed to hold intense feeling without being overwhelmed.
Throughout, resilience is understood as something you build in the body — not by overcoming grief, but by learning to move with it, to feel it, and to let it pass through a body strong enough to hold it. The class closes with a standing meditation on the heart and belly as the two centers of presence and action.
