"I was double-billed at renewal"
A failed-then-retried renewal can look like two charges. The failed one reverses automatically.
Last updated
If you see two charges from Dance Alive around your renewal date, it's almost always a failed payment followed by a successful retry — not an actual double-charge.
What's happening
When your card has trouble (expired, declined, hold by the bank), the payment fails. Stripe automatically retries the payment a day or two later. Until then, both attempts may appear on your statement:
- The failed attempt shows up as pending or temporary
- The successful retry shows up as completed
The failed one reverses within 3-7 business days — your bank handles this automatically. You end up paying for only one billing period.
Is it really a double-charge?
If after 10 days you still see two completed charges for the same amount with no reversal, that's something we need to look at. Contact us with:
- The dates and amounts of both charges
- The last four digits of the card
- The email on your Dance Alive account
We'll investigate. We don't issue refunds for normal billing periods as a rule, but actual duplicates from a payment system error are different — we fix those.
Check your renewal date
Open Account, look under the Subscription section, and you'll see your next billing date. If a charge falls outside that window, it might be for something else — see How Stripe and Mindbody billing work together.
How to avoid the failure in the first place
Keep your card up to date. If your card is close to expiring, go to Account → Manage Subscription and update it before the renewal hits.
